Amityville, NY, the famous scene of disturbing murders and took Amityville, is a horror-IFIC place for more than one. This small town on Long Island first became famous after Ronald "Butch" Defeo, Jr. shot and killed six members of his family on Nov. 13, 1974. In December of 1975 George and Kathy Lutz moved into the house, to leave only 28 days later, citing the paranormal activity, including the mysterious infestations of flies, banging doors and oozing plaques. To this day there are great debates about whether the concern was legitimate or a hoax.
